Meta to Hire Hindi Speakers for AI-Powered Role-Playing Chatbots
Meta is reportedly on the lookout for Hindi speakers with skills in prompt engineering and AI content pipelines, as part of its effort to build character-driven chatbots across Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
According to Business Insider, the company has engaged US-based contractors, including Crystal Equation and Aquent Talent, to hire Indian residents who can help train these chatbots. Candidates fluent in Hindi could reportedly earn up to $55 an hour.
The hired talent will not only teach the chatbots the language but also ensure they capture the nuances of Indian culture, making interactions more authentic and relatable. Similar recruitment drives are also underway in Mexico and Indonesia.
Meta’s push underscores its belief that AI-driven role-playing chatbots represent the future of social media. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has previously highlighted the potential of AI companions, envisioning interactive experiences where even reels could become conversational.
The company already operates AI Studio, a platform—currently available only in the US and Indonesia—that enables users to create their own character-based chatbots. Expanding such efforts to markets like India signals Meta’s intent to scale the technology globally.
