Asst. Manager – Research & Development Full Time NEW

• Technical responsibility for development and application engineering of the Transport product
portfolio covering trailer axles & suspensions, fifth wheels & couplers, and landing gear.
• Lead further development of existing products and development / localization of new
products for India and relevant export markets.
• Translate customer, market and regulatory requirements into product requirements, technical
specifications and development targets.
• Coordinate product development from concept, design and prototype through validation,
engineering release and production introduction.
• Guide Product Development Engineers in engineering calculations, design reviews, CAD /
drawing preparation, technical documentation and product release.
• Review product concepts, drawings, GD&T / tolerance specifications, materials and design
documentation before release.
• Coordinate CAD resources for creation and modification of 3D models and drawings in Creo /
PLM systems.
• Perform and review engineering calculations related to vehicle / component loads, structural
strength, fatigue, bolted joints, suspension, axle loads and coupling applications, as
applicable.
• Coordinate structural analysis / FEA and ensure design assumptions and simulation results are
technically reviewed and correlated with validation where required.
• Prepare and review requirements, specifications, DFMEA, DVP&R and other product
development documentation.
• Define validation requirements and coordinate prototype / component testing from
specification and planning through approval.
• Support homologation and compliance with applicable commercial vehicle and trailer
standards and customer requirements.
• Lead technical root-cause analysis for validation failures, field issues and customer concerns,
and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Review deviations and engineering change requests, assess product impact and coordinate
implementation of approved changes in series products.
• Drive product portfolio optimization considering quality, function, manufacturability,
commonality and cost.
• Support localization, VA/VE and supplier development activities jointly with Purchasing,
Quality and Manufacturing.
• Conduct technical discussions with customers and suppliers and support application selection,
product adaptation and issue resolution.
• Benchmark competitor products and identify product gaps and development opportunities for
the Indian market.
