Engineer – Research & Development Full Time NEW

• Develop and adapt fifth wheel couplings, locking mechanisms, pedestals and mounting
arrangements for truck and trailer applications.
• Translate customer and vehicle requirements into design inputs for imposed load, coupling
geometry, mounting height, articulation, operating clearance and service access.
• Work with OEMs such as Tata Motors, Mahindra, Daimler and Ashok Leyland on fifth wheel
installation, chassis interfaces, mounting layouts, clearance studies, drawing approvals and
prototype fitment.
• Create and maintain parametric 3D models, assemblies, production drawings and bills of
materials in Creo; release revisions through PLM / PDM.
• Specify materials, fits, GD&T and tolerances for locking function, interchangeability, assembly
and inspection.
• Perform strength, stiffness, fatigue, pin and bolted-joint calculations; define load cases and
review FEA results with the CAE team.
• Design for casting, forging, fabrication, welding, machining, heat treatment, coating and
assembly; work with suppliers on process and tooling feasibility.
• Prepare design review inputs, DFMEA, DVP&R, prototype build and test specifications; support
static, dynamic, locking / function and durability validation.
• Investigate test failures, manufacturing deviations and field issues using measurements and
structured root-cause analysis; verify corrective actions.
• Support coupling homologation and customer documentation against applicable ECE R55 and
Indian requirements with the approval team.
• Support localization, VA / VE, supplier development and engineering change control without
compromising safety or validated function.
• Benchmark competitor fifth wheels and identify product gaps for India and export
applications.
